Salesforce Trailhead - Billing Specialist super badge - The Why Of It
This was the second super badge I attempted on the Salesforce Trailhead. Immediately after installing the DE, I ran into a bear. An invisible bear actually. Read more about that in my next post.
I started my trailhead journey at the beginning of Sep'19, which is the start of spring down here in New Zealand. The season does add to the experience of the trail, with the promise of new beginnings, new life, growth and all that.
Having quickly devoured 6 trails, 51 badges, 35000 points in just the first two weeks of spring I was champing at the bit to achieve the Ranger rank. That may sound like a lot for a month worth of effort (100 badges and 50000 points to be achieved), but I was not a newbie to Salesforce. Agreed, I had never had to configure or code previously, but I had a fair bit of experience leading Salesforce resources and teams in my earlier roles a few years back.
This meant I was aware of the terminology in Salesforce. Leading a team of developers and having fielded calls with the internal customer (Sales Operations, Product Management, Billing, Operations, Field Ops) had given me a fair bit of know-how around the Salesforce platform. And of course, I was also handling the relationship with Salesforce for the licensing and customer success, so that gave me an overview of the organization as well. And, did I mention, I got to attend Dreamforce once, the one where they introduced the Lightning Experience.
So that is how far back I go with Salesforce, and all of that without being hands-on! So come spring of 2019 in September (Southern Hemisphere edition of spring), I found myself looking at an opportunity for learning Salesforce hands-on, and boy, did I jump at it!
Well, that's enough background for why I am on the trail. Time to tackle the invisible bear in the next step.
